Installation guide for the Netopia 3347W ADSL modem/WiFi router (Ethernet cable installation)

To start, make sure you've uninstalled and disconnected your ISP-supplied USB modem completely.

First, connect the supplied power adaptor to the POWER port on the Netopia ADSL modem/WiFi router, and plug it into a power outlet Turn the power switch to ON.

Next, connect your ADSL phone cable to your ADSL filter, and also to the DSL port on the Netopia ADSL modem/WiFi router. The DSL light will turn solid green (this can take a few minutes, so be patient).

Next, connect the supplied Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on your computer to LAN port 1 on the Netopia ADSL modem/WiFi router.

Next, set your computer to get an IP address from the Netopia ADSL modem/WiFi router via DHCP - see the table below for instuctions for your system:

Windows 98SE/Me Windows 2000/XP Vista Apple Mac OS
1. Click Windows' 'Start' menu, then 'Settings', then click 'Control Panel'.
2. Double-click the 'Network' icon.
3. Under the 'Configuration' tab, select 'TCP/IP' for the network adapter you want to use to connect to your Netopia router/modem.
4. Click 'Properties'.
5. Select 'Obtain an IP address automatically'.
6. Click 'OK' twice.
7. Restart your computer.

1. Click Windows' 'Start' menu, then 'Settings/Control Panel', then click 'Network Connections'.
2. Right-click Local Area Connection icon.
3. Click 'Properties'.
4. Select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'.
5. Click 'Properties'.
6. Select 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server automatically'.
7. Click 'OK' twice.
8. Restart your computer.

1. Click the Windows icon (bottom-left of screen), then 'Control Panel', then click 'Network and Internet'.
2. Under subheading 'Network and sharing center', click 'View network status and tasks'.
3. At the right of the Local Area Connection, click 'View status'.
4. Select 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)'.
5. Click 'Properties'.
6. Select 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server automatically'.
7. Click 'OK' twice.
8. Restart your computer.

1. OSX: From the dock or Apple menu, open 'System Preferences', and click on 'Network'.
1. OS9: From the Apple menu, open 'Control Panels>TCP/IP'.
2. In 'Show:/Connect via': Select 'Ethernet Slot 0 / Ethernet Adapter for USB connection' or 'Built-in Ethernet for Ethernet Connection'.
3. In 'Configure': select the option 'Using DHCP'.
4. Click 'Save/Apply Now'and close the window.
5. Restart your computer.



Now to connect to the Netopia ADSL modem/WiFi router's configuration page to complete the installation and connect to the Internet.

Open a web browser, and type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar, and hit enter:



You're now connected to the Netopia ADSL modem/WiFi router, and a couple more steps are needed to complete the configuration.

Now, fill in your email address, and your broadband ID and password, as supplied to you by your ISP. The Netopia asks for a phone number, but you can fill this with zeros, as per the pic below:

Click "Next" when you're done.

On the next screen, select Network Identification PPPoA, suitable for almost all UK ADSL service providers (Tiscali, TalkTalk, BT, AOL, BT, Orange etc.):
Click "Next" when you're done.

Installation is now complete:
